Meet KYCK 18 Speaker: Danny Mitchell

13/10/2017

We are pleased to announce that Danny Mitchell will be joining the KCC platform at KYCK 18.

Flying in from Queensland, Danny is the youth pastor at Arundel Presbyterian Church on the Gold Coast. From an early age Danny had heard the stories and claims of the Bible however he still saw himself as a good person who didn't need forgiveness.

When he was 14 he started attending a youth group where he was struck by generous love. Over time he realised that this love lined up with the message they were preaching - that Christ died for his sins, once for all, the innocent for the guilty, to bring him to God.

Danny is married to Kate, and they have three spunky girls named Adeline, Elsa and Beatrice. Prior to life on the Gold Coast, Danny had studied at Sydney Missionary Bible College and served as the youth pastor at St. Mark's Anglican in Oakhurst.

Meet KYCK 18 Speaker: Sam Low

12/10/2017

We are pleased to announce that Sam Low will be joining the KCC platform at KYCK 18.

When Sam was 14, someone explained to him that Jesus loved him even though he doesn't deserve it and he's been following him ever since.

For a job Sam gets to tell other people about Jesus, and at the moment he does that as part of the ministry team at St Paul's Chatswood. Sam is married to Sally and they have two crazy boys Bailey and Hudson.

Jesus is absolutely the best thing that ever happened to Sam so he is pumped to open the bible at KYCK and speak from
1 Peter on the theme 'Out Of This World'.

You can listen to Sam's sermons at St. Paul's Chatswood here.

Meet NextGen Graduate: Iggy

8/10/2017

1. You are from Brisbane! How did you find out about NextGen (formerly KYLC)?
By God’s grace we had some older (and undoubtedly wiser) leaders in our young adult’s group who encouraged some of us to go.  They had some connections to people in Sydney who told them about it. To be honest I had no idea what I was getting myself into - I just thought it’d be fun to go down to Sydney and attend a big Christian conference.
2. How did NextGen impact your Christian life and ministry?
I think only in retrospect I’ve been able to appreciate NextGen's contribution to my Christian life and ministry.  Things which I take for granted now I was introduced to for the first time at NextGen. I really had no idea how to read the bible properly and that was made clear to me at NextGen. I hadn’t even heard of biblical theology before. All this stuff I took back to Brisbane to try and implement into the Young Adults group.
3. What kept you coming back each year so that you completed all 3 strands?
Besides the strand groups I was incredibly encouraged by the fellowship of meeting so many other Christians who were convicted about the gospel.  That was infectious.  I developed some friendships there that are still going strong and that was 10 years ago!

Also the talks and seminars really challenged me about my godliness.  I found it really refreshing to hear a week of solid bible teaching to kick start the year.
My encouragement for everyone down in Sydney is to not take for granted the great training that you have at your doorstep. It's world class and majority of places around the world don't have ANYTHING like it!
4. What would you say to someone who isn't convinced about NextGen?
I’ve already talked about how life changing the conference was to me personally but I guess one awesome story comes by looking at the bigger picture.  Back then we use to fly down about 20 people every year to go to NextGen.  It was great but expensive, and it limited the ability of people to go.

Because we all benefited incredibly from the teaching there,  it was not long before a sister conference was started in Brisbane which is now called Ignite Training Conference.  It teaches the same strand material and is now impacting a whole new generation of young people to read and teach the bible, locally in Brisbane!

So my encouragement for everyone down in Sydney is to not take for granted the great training that you have at your doorstep.  It’s world class and majority of places around the world don’t have ANYTHING like it.  So take advantage of it!
After graduating from Moore College, Iggy returned to Brisbane to pastor Coopers Plains Evangelical Church and is a board member of Ignite Training Conference.

Meet NextGen Graduate: Fi

5/10/2017

1. You are from Brisbane! How did you find out about NextGen and why did you think it was important to attend?
NextGen (formerly KYLC) came highly recommended by people older than me at youth group who always came back stretched and encouraged in their faith. So I also jumped on board.
2. How did NextGen impact your Christian life?
Under God, NextGen changed my life. God used the conference to propel my life on track. Through the powerful preaching, I was convicted that Christ was worthy of my all. I remember after a night session sitting under the word, I prayed that God would help me resolve to live a single-minded, transformed life as Jesus deserves no less.
Picture
3. What kept you coming back each year so that you completed all 3 strands?
We couldn't get enough of the clear, expository preaching of the word that made the Bible accessible and spoke so deeply into our lives. It was an exciting time of learning and equipping ourselves to go back to our church contexts, ready to pass it onto others.

Attending NextGen created a culture of gospel-centred preaching, leadership training, inter-church partnerships and mentoring at my church. It led to many young people growing up to become Christians serving faithfully at church, and some to continue their training through MTS and Bible colleges for a lifetime of service.
Fi is currently involved with Christian education, teaching high school SRE and is a board member at a Christian school.

Early Bird tickets now available!
