In this interview, Lachlan Anderson from St Paul's Anglican Church in Chatswood shares why he attends BASECAMP men's conference and how the event has served to renew his strength as a man of faith.

1. How many times have you attended BASECAMP?

2019 was my third time at BASECAMP.

2. Why do you think men should set aside time to prioritise men's conferences like BASECAMP?

It can be so easy to get bogged down in the business of life, whatever that may look like for each of us, but it often means God takes a backseat in our lives. So sometimes we need to get out of our routine and purposefully recharge spiritually. BASECAMP is so helpful for us to pause, breathe and reflect on our relationship with God and the men He is calling us to be.

3. How does BASECAMP serve to "renew your strength" as a man of faith?

Taking the time to stop for a day and sit in God's word with so many brothers in Christ was the best remedy for me in a period where I was stressed and anxious about life. The speaker, Paul Tripp challenged us to base our identity in Christ and not in our achievements or relationships. I felt strengthened and renewed to stand alongside so many other Christian men and humbly come back to Jesus - proclaiming Him as our identity and our strength.

4. What is one encouragement you took home with you after BASECAMP 2019?

I was encouraged by L-T Hopper's on-stage chat with Steve Kryger about friendship between brothers in Christ. It was so great to hear from the front that true Godly masculinity involves love, gentleness and compassion, especially when our culture tells us a very different story about what it means to be a man in Australia.
