In our upcoming series of ‘KCC Conversations’, we are joined by professional mentor and spiritual director Sally Jones and mentoring practitioner and principal consultant Rick Lewis to talk about mentoring. You can tune into these free interviews this month on KCC’s Oxygen Facebook Page. Katoomba Christian Convention launched ‘KCC Conversations’ earlier in the year as a platform to discuss hot topics about life, work and faith. This month we tackle the topic of mentoring. It’s been a long season of constant change and uncertainty for individuals and church leaders. As a result, this has had a significant impact on the way many individuals navigate through these challenges and try to face what is going on for them. Joining us on Wednesday 13th October at 12PM (AEDT), experienced mentor Sally Jones will discuss the topic, ‘Why It’s Important to Have a Mentor’. Sally will be sharing about why it is important to have a mentor to help you navigate life, especially in difficult seasons and circumstances, just like what we’re experiencing today. Sally is a trained mentor, spiritual director and supervisor (in training) who runs her own Sydney-based mentoring, spiritual direction and pastoral supervision practice. She has completed a Graduate Diploma in Spiritual Direction through Tabor Adelaide. Sally is also a trainer of mentors and spiritual directors with MEQ Sydney (in conjunction with The John Mark Extension) and Barnabas Ministries (Listen into Life and Soul Companions). She has been an adjunct faculty member with ACOM (2014-2017) and SMBC (2018-present). Sally spent eight years working with International Teams Australia, a Christian missions agency working with the marginalised, five of which were with the Sydney Refugee Team working with refugees and asylum seekers in the community. She is also a trained Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer, with a special interest in the link between physicality and spirituality and holistic health and well-being. She is married to Brendan and has three gorgeous sons. Following on this topic of mentoring, we are joined by Dr Rick Lewis to consider the topic of ‘How Mentoring Identifies the Work of God in your Life’. Catch Rick’s interview on Wednesday 20th October at 12PM (AEDT) on the KCC Oxygen Facebook Page. Dr. Rick Lewis is the owner and principal consultant of Anamcara Consulting. He is primarily a practitioner of mentoring, serving around 70 senior Christian leaders in Australia, South-east Asia, the UK and continental Europe. For 30 years he was a local church pastor, all the while devoting some time to mentoring, consulting with churches, and training. Since 2011 he has worked full-time as an itinerant mentor, consultant, lecturer and seminar leader. Rick serves as an adjunct faculty member and visiting lecturer for several theological colleges in Australia, the UK and Europe and more recently in South America. He holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary, having conducted action research into mentoring processes for pastors. His first book, Mentoring Matters, published in 2009, deals especially with formal, structured mentoring for Christian leaders. Rick is a member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council and chairs the leadership group of the Australian Christian Mentoring Network.
